Guilford Youth & Family Services, a helping agency, has provided supportive services to youth and their families since 1977. The Guilford Community Mobilization Team assess and evaluates the community's need for program development, implementation and accessibility of resources in response to issues surrounding prevention and intervention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, as well as other issues impacting children and families in the community.

Over the years they have come to see the importance of a strong family and community when dealing with addictions. The New Haven Prevention Council has worked diligently to enhance the ability of its community to provide prevention, treatment and support services to combat the debilitating effects of alcohol and drug abuse. It recognizes that the integration of efforts from the community as a whole is vital to the success of any substance abuse program. Hence, community-based strategies are used to achieve the objectives of the coalition i.e. to reduce the demand for alcohol and other drugs and to decrease the incidence of related problems.

As the Local Prevention Council for Bethany, Orange, and Woodbridge area ODAAC has been at the forefront of drug prevention, awareness and education since it's inception in 1982. They are committed to actively and comprehensively increasing community awareness and education programming in the areas of substance abuse. ODAAC is a respected group in the community and is looked to, to provide leadership in the area of prevention. They constantly strive to adapt their message and methods to a wide audience from youth to seniors, from professions to stay-at-home moms, from the wealthiest to the poorest. ODAAC know that substance abuse reaches across all socio-political-economic-racial\-ethnic-gender barriers, and they know that "prevention" is a multi-faceted approach to a healthy living.

The West Haven Drug & Alcohol Task Force is a nonprofit organization, incorporated in 1985. The Task Force is comprised of eighteen members including representation from school system, police department, community agencies, students and community residents. The primary goal is awareness and education.
